Where the Need for Speed Meets the Creative Imperative.
March 14, 2012
We all know that in advertising, "fast" is often an understatement. Clients need to be able to respond with lightning speed. And when that means getting a new TV spot from concept to air, it helps to have the latest technology. That’s why BrabenderCox is among one of the first agencies in the country to purchase the revolutionary Red Epic camera.
This cinema-quality camera is regarded as the highest-resolution, smallest, and most advanced digital camera in the world. It’s been used on films like "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "Prometheus" and such television shows as "Criminal Minds" and "Pretty Little Liars."
Cinematographers love the Red Epic because it’s the first camera that can compete with the look of film while shooting at a 5k, uncompressed resolution, on very small disks. Editors love it because now instead of dealing with bays and bays of large and noisy hard-drives, they’re now working from small drives that integrate very easily into editing systems.
What all of this means to clients is:
It's a win-win.
We know how important it is to our clients that we are able to produce superior quality ads in lightning speed timeframes. It’s why we have made the investment in the Epic camera and all of our other editing equipment. As legendary director Steven Soderbergh has said, "It's Magic!"

What all of this means to clients is:
- Shooting more footage (because it’s a smaller, more portable camera)
- Shooting at a much higher resolution (the Epic shoots 5k uncompressed while most HD cameras shoot 2k)
- Getting the footage into editing systems much faster (the files can be transcoded on set and to editing suites in minutes instead of hours or days)
It's a win-win.
